
The third in our series of art exhibitions opened on 4th June 2009 and ran through to 23rd October. The exhibition featured the work of two Ugborough artists Andrew Miller and Anne Holway and photographic images by Steven Haywood - a staff photographer with the Western Morning News also an Ugborough resident. The exhibition was very well received and over 20 original paintings were sold over the period of the exhibition.
Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, Erme Valley Riding for the Disabled Association exists to give disabled people of all ages the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of riding. Erme Valley currently teach around 160 individual riders, each with one or more physical or cognitive disabilities, sensory impairments, as well as social disorders. An army of 180 volunteer helpers assist with rides and lessons, sometimes three to each disabled rider. The centre is financed entirely via fundraising and donations, and currently give nearly 6000 rides each year.
The Riding for the Disabled Association is a national charitable organization with over 600 groups across the country. They are run by volunteer helpers, instructors and physiotherapists.
