Wills

We appreciate that making a Will is hardly an exciting or uplifting thing to do.  However, it can save those closest to you an enormous amount of stress and uncertainty at a time when they will also be grieving for you.  It always astonishes us to hear how many people die intestate (without leaving a Will).  The resulting chaos often takes months or even years to sort out.  Please do not let this happen to your estate.

Any significant change in family or financial circumstances should cause you to review your Will.  Marriage will revoke a prior Will. Divorce changes the provisions so far as they relate to a former spouse. A birth or death in the family may also lead to a change in your wishes. Careful planning is important to ensure that your estate passes to your chosen beneficiaries and to maximise the net value of the estate.

Is your will up to date ?

From 6th April 2010, trusts can be established to run over longer periods giving additional opportunities for estate planning and for protecting assets for future generations. See Ministry of Justice.

We are supporting St Luke's Hospice Will writing promotion in which they offer a significant contribution towards the costs of making a Will.
