The growing global population does bring opportunities as well as the obvious challenges. Investors with an eye to the long term will be keen to participate in the productivity and growth of emerging markets such as China and India as well as in natural resources and commodities where growing demand seems likely to drive prices ever higher. Food and energy production are likely to attract a lot of investment and research as science strives to meet the challenge of rapidly growing demand.
