Minimum Wage Rates - October 2016

The National Minimum Wage rates are updated each October. The National Living Wage is updated in April.

New rates from 1st October 2016 are as follows.

£7.20 for workers 25 and over

£6.95 for workers aged 21 - 24

£5.55 18-20 yrs

£4.00 for under 18s

£3.40 for apprentices under 19 or 19 or over who are in the first year of apprenticeship

The greatest percentage increase is in the rate for apprentices  – up to £3.30 from £2.73.

A national living wage of £7.20 ph for workers aged 25 and over will apply from April 2016.
