New National Minimum Wage Rates from 1st October 2015
The National Minimum Wage rates are updated each October. New rates come into effect today (1st October 2015) as follows.
£6.70 for workers 21 and over
£5.30 18-20 yrs
£3.87 for 16-17 yrs, who are above school leaving age but under 18
£3.30 for apprentices under 19 or 19 or over who are in the first year of apprenticeship
The greatest percentage increase is in the rate for apprentices – up to £3.30 from £2.73.
A national living wage of £7.20 ph for workers aged 25 and over will apply from April 2016.
